Chi Running for injury-free running
MANILA, Philippines - Newton Running in cooperation with Runnr, the running specialty store, recently sponsored Chi Running, a running program that combines the inner focus and flow of tai chi with the power and energy of running to create a revolutionary running form and philosophy that take the pounding, pain, and potential damage out of the sport.
The program was introduced for the first time in the Philippines on Jan. 20 at the activity center in front of Runnr store on Bonifacio High Street. Guest speaker at the clinic was Lit Onrubia, the country’s first and only certified Chi Running instructor who gave an introduction to Chi Running. Onrubia’s lecture provided an overview of the benefits of Chi Running, its forms and techniques.
Runnr, is the first specialty store to launch this type of running clinic in the country, also shed light on the technology behind the store’s highly rated Newton shoes that support Chi Running or forefoot running.
Chi Running has helped many people, from beginners to cross-country runners and triathletes. Whether you are just beginning a running program or training for a marathon, race, or triathlon, the Chi Running approach is one that builds a healthy body.
Says Runnr founder Toby Claudio, “Running will still be the No. 1 fitness and sports activity for Filipinos for 2010. Since part of Runnr’s advocacy is to guide runners with shoes and running equipment, Lit Onrubia’s discussion on Chi Running will surely give runners valuable tips for an effortless and injury-free running.”
