All aboard Marco Polo's Train of Hope

With a vision to create a wonderful world of tomorrow for our children, The Marco Polo Plaza, the only five-star hotel in Cebu City, recently ushered in the Christmas season by celebrating the success of the Train of Hope, its fund-raising activity for the benefit of the Kythe and Kapuso Foundations, which is currently on the running for P2 million — truly a triumphant accomplishment after hitting its original target of P1 million that will be used to provide four months’ worth of medicines and treatments for Cebu’s young cancer patients.

Indefatigable general manager Hans Hauri and Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, together with miniature Model-Railway owners Clayton and Joji Tugonon, led the affair, which kicked off with the ceremonial flagging down of the Train of Hope.

Share and give hope this season by supporting the Train of Hope project that runs until Jan. 6, 2010.

A dazzling approach to futurism

It was truly a night to behold when jewelry lovers, art patrons and members of Manila’s fashion set, including the author, recently went to Firma at Greenbelt 3 for the unveiling of “Triad: An Approach to Futurism.”

Organized in cooperation with Ayala Malls, it was indeed one of the most exciting jewelry events of the year. Everyone wanted to see what the buzz was all about as three of Manila’s talented jewelry artists — Kristine Dee, Michelline Syjuco and Paul Syjuco — launched their first jewelry exhibit.

It was an evening of talent, music and special performances replete with a delicious dessert cocktail presentation by Cyrille Soenen of Ciçou as well as select wines by Rene Barbier. I could actually hear the quiet gasps, the oohs and the aahs, as invited guests admired and eventually took home the exquisite pieces.

Congratulations!

Christmas cheers for kids

A special Christmas treat for children dubbed “Christmas Cheers @ A. Venue” recently took place at the A. Venue Mall in Antel Lifestyle City.

Eager tykes got to meet and have a photo shoot with Santa and took home loads of goodies while the 25th Harmony Chorale sang Christmas carols.

Indeed, A. Venue is now the destination of choice for Manila’s discriminating, fun-loving crowd.

The event was spearheaded by A. Venue general manager Michelle Santos. A. Venue is located at 7829 Makati Avenue, Makati City.
