In support of our future doctors, the J. Moreno Foundation recently handed over scholarship grants to this year’s batch of deserving students taking up Medicine at the University of the Philippines. Multi-papal awardee and renowned Philanthropist Imelda Cojuangco, founding chairman of the Foundation, as represented by exquisite beauty Lizette Cojuangco, and Asia’s Fashion Czar Jose “Pitoy” Moreno led the humble yet spiritually uplifting ceremony held at the posh residence of our National Artist for Fashion Design. Floral fashion show at 14th Festival of Trees
Manila’s A-listers and captains of industry gathered at the Manila Polo Club as flowers and fashion took center stage at the recently concluded 14th Festival of Trees. Organized by Mindy Perez-Rubio, the tireless ladies of the Makati Garden Club and the Philippine Business for Social Progress, the event raised funds for impoverished schools in war-torn Basilan and Maguindanao and the victims of the recent typhoons. “You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give,” said Festival of Trees honorary chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan during his speech. Congratulations!

Your columnist congratulates Anna Sobrepeña who recently received the communication skills writing category award for her cover story about the life and philosophy of Metrobank Group chairman doctor George S. K. Ty and his sons, Arthur and Alfred from the prestigious International Association of Business Communicators Philippine Quill (IABC). Congratulations also to photographer Arlu Gomez who bagged the communication creative category award for his cover photo of sisters Monique and Yvette Lhuillier, which was shot in Paris.
