The Filipinas Heritage Library (FHL) was jam-packed with family, close friends and guests as feisty lawyer, former solicitor general and more recently, a brilliant novelist, Frank Chavez launched his first book entitled, Blighted. This timely fictional novel is a searing social commentary on the state of the nation as it lurches from one moral crisis to another set amid the events of the last 30 years. Reminiscent of Rizal’s classic Noli Me Tangere, it portrays the cancer-ridden Philippine setting of 2009 tackling the ills of contemporary society. The SRO crowd was in absolute awe of the author’s eventual best-selling novel which I personally highly recommend as a must read. As of this writing, over 1,000 copies have been sold on direct orders. Copies are now available nationwide at outlets of National Book Store, Powerbooks, Fully Booked and Chavez Miranda Aseoche Law offices. Proceeds of the book sale will go to UP-PGH, the Bantay Bata, and Gawad Kalinga projects of the Rotary Club of Makati, of which Frank is a director.
Congratulations for a job well done, Frank!
A beautiful send-off
Stunning Bb. Pilipinas International 2009 title- holder Melody Gersbach was recently given a despedida party at the newly blessed Gasthof Café, located at A. Venue Mall, as she goes to China to represent the Philippines. Led by Antel Group of Companies president Elena Jao and Melody’s mother Gasthof Café president and chief executive officer Bot Gersbach, the dual event was a picture of excitement and joy.
Congratulations and may you bring home the crown, Melody!
