Quezon City International Marathon runs tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City is holding its first international marathon, the 1st QC International Marathon tomorrow, Oct. 18. International runners from Kenya and our own elite local runners will be there to raise the level of competition. Pacers will be available to help runners finish at a pace within their running level. The running time will be electronically recorded using timing chips and posted on the web.

QC International Marathon is giving away the largest total cash prize worth P3 million; Nike Human Race shirts will be given to all 42k runners and the top 1,000 21k finishers.

Due to numerous requests from runners residing in the calamity areas of Marikina, Taguig, Pasig, Cainta and Muntinlupa City, the organizers of QCIM extended the registration and waived the penalty for late registration.

The Philippine STAR, SM, San Jose Builders, Manila Water Corp., PCSO, Maynilad, Adidas, Sun Cellular, Gatorade, Timex, Unilab, Philips, Microsoft, GMA Network, Pharmaton, R.O.X., Fitness First, Runnr, Second Wind, Sportspray, Photovendo, takbo.ph and Rush are sponsoring the event.

The Executive Runners Club of the Philippines (RUNNEX), led by president Rudy Fernandez and chairman Art Disini, will manage the race with an estimated 10,000 runners expected to participate in the 5K, 10K and 21K events and in the centerpiece 42.195km full marathon.

The race will pass through UP campus, Commonwealth Ave., Don Mariano Marcos Ave., Batasan Road, La Mesa Dam Eco-Park, Mindanao Ave. and Ayala Techno Park.
