Dream houses are made of these
MANILA, Philippines - Within the gates of every Camella property is a world of possibilities. Each development represents the fulfillment of a dream nurtured within every house — tended by its walls and sheltered by its roof.
At Camella, a house is not merely a home but the story of triumph over adversity and a vision for a better future.
Each home tells the story of the Filipino family searching for and finding a better life. Within every room are memories of challenges and successes — the long hours at work to buy a crib for a coming baby; the family spending a whole day together to paint the kitchen; and opening the entire house to neighbors and friends to celebrate a child’s college graduation. In every room and every story is Camella, sheltering every dream.
A pioneer in the affordable housing segment, Camella has built over 200,000 homes through 87 projects — maintaining a strong presence in Mega Manila and 17 other key provincial destinations and 38 cities and municipalities, while aggressively expanding to other regions. In the past three decades, it has consistently provided value-for-money homes in master-planned communities — the first real property developer to do so in the country.
It also offers varied home choices with a portfolio that boasts a full range of options — from inner city town houses to vast suburban single-family homes; from mid-rise condominiums to contemporary high-rises. Indeed, there is a Camella home suitable for one’s income and location.
It is the wish of newlyweds to come home to a house of their own. For Babes Hosena, however, the fulfillment of this dream came much later than what she and her husband had hoped for.
After getting married, they stayed with her mother-in-law for quite a while before setting off on their own. By the time they got around to purchasing their own house, their children were already going to school. She never had the opportunity to go through the typical experience of a young couple learning to make a home for themselves.
So when her son Malvin, an architect, landed a stable job with a good income, she immediately encouraged him to invest in a house and lot. Though he was still unmarried then, Babes made him realize the importance of responsibly building his future.
“Sabi ko sa kanya, kaya mo naman. Habang single ka pa, mabuting mag-invest ka na sa house and lot. Kami ng Daddy niya, hindi namin nagawa yun. Hindi namin naging priority ang magkabahay. So we just want to improve things for them. He has the capacity naman. We encouraged him to invest while he’s still young and single,” she shares.
Armed with his mother’s wisdom and the support of Camella, Malvin was able to purchase a house before leaving to pursue a career in the US. As his career grew, so did his home and his earnings eventually allowed him to purchase the lot next door. Malvin got married a year later. And though he is still based abroad, the Camella he bought serves as their residence whenever they visit Manila. In a way, Malvin’s parents lived their dream through their son’s life.
“As parents, very proud kami sa kanya! He is very responsible. At ngayon, very responsible din siya as a husband to his wife and father to his newborn. Natutuwa kami dahil nung kami mag-asawa, nag-aaral na sila nang magkabahay kami. Eh ngayon, single pa lang ay pwede na silang makapag-invest dahil sa Camella,” enthuses Babes.
Finding a Safe Haven
Working in the highly congested business district of Makati had taken a toll on the Del Rosario couple. Joy works for an advertising agency while her husband is with a recruitment firm. After years of fighting for space in the city center, they were ready for a change. And from the get-go, they already had their eye on Camella.
“Camella is well-known and credible. Maraming projects ang Camella. Kung saan-saan yan. We trimmed the choices down and chose Cerritos for its accessibility and safety,” says Joy.
Cerritos of Camella truly became the answer to their prayers. Having lived at the center of the city, they had gotten used to the many conveniences that it afforded. Any time they need something to drink, or additional chips to munch on, it was only a matter of stepping out and walking to the nearest convenience store. This was something they couldn’t give up and Camella ensured that they continued to enjoy this convenience.
Location-wise, Cerritos was extremely accessible. It was near enough to their workplace to handle the commute while far enough to get them away from the hustle and bustle of city living. For the Del Rosarios, safety and security were also major considerations that Camella took care of.
The neighborhood has strong perimeter fences and ample guards who patrol the area. Furthermore, the streets are well lit, creating a safe environment day and night.
Love at First Sight
Rhea Galagate, a teacher, found her Camella in 2007. Availing herself of the pre-selling offers, she is proud to be a Camella resident. She said Camella was love at first sight for her husband.
“Nag-ikot pa rin kami. Pero nung makita namin yung lugar, yung atmosphere dito, hindi na siya nagdalawang isip,” Rhea relates. The couple could not believe that the houses were truly affordable. The price was well within their reach and it included many conveniences that were denied them in their old homes.
Space, in particular, used to be such a luxury for them. Camella provided an environment that’s healthy and conducive to starting families. There were ample open spaces, trees, parks for children to play.
Moving in, Rhea adds, was a breeze. There was no difficulty in getting her belongings into the property. All her requests were readily acted upon. After almost two years, she has added many features to her home and has truly made it her own.
The Hosenas, the Del Rosarios and the Galagates echo the satisfaction of the many Camella residents throughout the country. After over 30 years of providing quality homes, well-planned communities and home investment opportunities to millions of families, Camella remains steadfast in its commitment of building quality lives brick by brick for every Filipino.
