MANILA, Philippines – If you live in the Cavite area and need an affordable venue to hold a party, business meeting or event, look no further than Emps and Mels.
Time was when Caviteños would have to go all the way to Tagaytay just to hold their parties, and have to pay top prices for it.
Located in the Imus Poblacion, Emps and Mels is right in the heart of Cavite, along the commercial strip of Imus market, the Imus Pilot Elementary School and Imus Institute, and is 50-percent cheaper than any other comparable venue nearby.
Emps and Mels’ function hall can accommodate from 20 to 150 people. The space can be divided and rented as a half, for 50 to 60 persons; or three-fourths, for 80 people. Clients can avail themselves of party-planning services for weddings, debuts, theme parties, children’s parties, company Christmas parties, business meetings, and seminars. Emps and Mels can provide accredited caterers according to the client’s budget. The catering service also includes bar service. Rental of the hall includes a basic sound system with stage, microphone, parking, and restroom attendants. There is ample parking at the back of the hall for 40 to 50 cars.
“The price per head includes cocktails and appetizers, which caterers don’t normally provide,” says acting manager Lisa Jacinto-Alvendia. “It’s an incentive way of serving food while waiting for other guests to arrive.”
The venue, which opened on Sept. 13, 2008, was named after Concepcion and Carmelo Jacinto, the late parents of a prominent Imus family. “Empion and Melong was how they called each other,” says Alvendia, who co-owns the lot with brother Armando “Mandy” Jacinto. “Mandy wanted the names of his parents on the lot they gave him.”
Recent events at Emps and Mels include a retirement party Rural Bank held for one of its employees; Avon’s Recognition Day, which accommodated 170 people in theater-style seating; and an induction ball of the Rotary Club and Jaycees.
Emps and Mels’ basic Mediterranean look can be decorated to suit any theme. “We’re No. 1 in cleanliness, which is an important consideration, especially for caterers who come in,” Alvendia says.
