'Preview' marks 150th issue with 'Preview Art'
MANILA, Philippines – To commemorate its 150th issue, Preview magazine recently launched a limited-edition coffee-table book entitled Preview Art. “We wanted to celebrate the milestone in a conservative way,” says Ichi Apostol, team publisher for Preview. “Instead of throwing a party, we decided to come up with a book that celebrates fashion and art, two things that Preview is passionate about and has always promoted.”
Curated by art patron Norman Crisologo, Preview Art is a collection that “celebrates and provokes, tickles and taunts our notions of fashion and beauty today,” says Preview editor in chief Pauline Suaco-Juan. Aside from being a frequent Preview collaborator, Crisologo also has good ties with the country’s up-and-coming artists whom Preview wanted to tap for this collection, in keeping with its thrust of promoting fresh Filipino talent.
On his passion for local art, Crisologo tells Preview, “There is so much great art in the Philippines, but my heart always goes to the struggling and the new. Nothing beats discovering new talent.”
Featured in Preview Art are the works of Elmer Borlongan, Ronald Ventura, Geraldine Javier, Tatong Torres, Costantino Zicarelli, Liv Vinluan, Juan Caguicla, Wawi Navarroza, Steve Tirona, Rajo Laurel, Ivarluski Aseron, and Joey Samson.
Limited editions of Preview Art are available at National Book Store, Powerbooks, and Fully Booked branches in Metro Manila for P1,000 per copy.
