MANILA, Philippines - Maverick chef Bobby Chinn is back for his second season of World Café Asia, making more discoveries about local cuisines and people from all across the region. Join Bobby as he travels across Asia, exploring the best food and cultural experiences that each country has to offer. World Café Asia 2 premieres every Monday at 10 p.m. beginning March 23, with encores every Tuesday at 5:30 a.m., and Sunday at 2:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Citizen of the world Bobby is in his element as he travels to cities such as Manila, Malacca, Jakarta, Yunnan and Calcutta. With his half-Chinese, half-Egyptian heritage, he blends in and gets along famously with multi-cultural Asians as they show him around their cities, restaurants, kitchens and markets. For Bobby, these journeys are as much about the local cultures as they are about the food. He tries a little of everything — from ayam buah keluak in Malacca and balut in Manila to yoga in India and prayers in Indonesia. Bobby discovers what is unique about each place from a historical and cultural perspective, and after sampling the local fare shows viewers how they can make it at home, incorporating Asia’s culinary diversity into their kitchens.
