When real Red Lions reunite

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -

Rarely does true camaraderie and strong bonding among schoolmates of long ago remain intact after so many years. The batches of elementary 1958 and high school 1962 of San Beda College, who are now in their early sixties, have proven that friendship can indeed last forever. Hosted by businessman Gerry Contreras at his palatial residence in South Forbes, this bunch of Red Lions recently held a class reunion and dinner-dance party. Noted batch members who still attend are PLDT and Smart Communications chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, Chicago-based Sargent & Lundy nuclear plant builder Fred Tsai, and local entrepreneur Bob Tenchavez, among others. Go, San Beda, fight!

Artsy birthday celebration

It was a soiree of sorts, just as the birthday boy deemed it to be. World-renowned artist Ramon Orlina, hosted an intimate evening of music and merry-making spent with his family and close friends. The Fairways Towers at the Global City was a perfect venue for this consortium of artists as guests were feted with sumptuous fare while enjoying exquisite music. Guests also feasted their eyes on a mini exhibition of Ramon’s recent glass and crystal sculptures and his unique collection of VW Beetle limos that he personally worked on. One eye stopper was the black VW limo with a rack top and glamorous retro look. Celebrities and theatre stalwarts Boots Anson-Roa, Willie Nepomuceno and Ivy Violan enjoyed the evening together with Hoseki’s Faico, Zabeth and Ivan Co. Happy Birthday, Mon!

An unforgettable duet

Not only a multi-awarded singer but also a loving daughter, Natalie Cole considers her father, noted crooner Nat King Cole, as her greatest and most influential inspiration on her music. When her legendary father passed away, Natalie pledged her complete devotion to him when she made her own arrangements of his greatest hits through her 1991 album, “Unforgettable…With Love.” With the help of technology, Natalie Cole lovingly reunited with her father through an unforgettable duet of Unforgettable. This resulted in a chart-topping album that sold over seven million copies in the United States and gave her several Grammy Awards. Witness an amazing performance as Natalie Cole comes to Manila for one unforgettable concert on March 11, 8 p.m. at the Araneta Coliseum. For ticket inquiries, call Ticketnet at 911-5555, 374-2222 or 374-9999.
