To Marchi, to Marché!

- Erika Dizon -

It’s Christmastime and the bazaars are here once again. So take out your shopping lists and sharpen your bargain-hunting skills for those unique finds.

The Marché Christmas Bazaar, held at the Makati Sports Club, has been a favorite of shoppingeras for the past four years. Marché, which means “market” in French, is a civic, non-profit organization that partners with other associations with the common goal of civic work and social uplift.

Marché holds its yearly bazaar as a vehicle to raise funds for a good cause. According to Myrna Alimurung, vice president of the foundation, one of their goals this year is to promote the livelihood projects of Husay Pinay, a group organized by Joy Belmonte-Alimurung, which develops the skills and provides livelihood opportunities to the women of Quezon City. Marché’s big-hearted partners include the Rotary Club of Makati, the Rising Phoenix Foundation, the Fraternal Order of Utopia (Ateneo Law School) and the Salt and Light for Christ Community.

This year, Marché bazaar ushers in the Christmas season with the theme “Great Finds, Great Fun,” putting emphasis on holistic wellness. Expect a wide array of interesting and unique products from over 130 vendors of apparel, accessories, toys, cosmetics, export-quality Christmas decor, imported home decor, branded and local designer bags, footwear, jewelry, novelty items, wellness products, handicrafts, pottery, original VCDs and DVDs, and food galore.

In line with its emphasis on wellness, Abbott will have free Ensure milk-tasting, while Have-It-All vitamins from Unilab will be given at the entrance.

Marche Internatonal Foundation bazaar, headed by president Yu Ming Chin, also features interesting wellness products    like the Quantum Pendant. Wear this scalar energy-generating pendant to enhance your circulation and boost your immune function, strength, flexibility and balance. You can also use it to shield yourself from harmful electro-magnetic fields from cell phones, computers and electrical appliances. Another is the Ozone Purifier Sterilizer, an inexpensive equipment to oxygenate water and purify the air. The Ozone Purifier is also said to remove pesticides, harmful chemicals, bacteria, fungi, molds and parasites from fruits, vegetables, meat, and eggs.

Stores include Kitchen Couture for stylish aprons, fascinating lit T-shirts from Maverick by Design, wooden orthopedic sandals from Happy Feet, slipper charms for sneakers, flip-flops and footwear items from Suwelas, shoes by Melissa Do, outdoor cooling sports sleeves from Healthmate International, hand-painted glasses made by artist Christina Castro-Gelano, and many more.

Aside from going to a fun event with a good cause, the Marché bazaar is also a great avenue for young, aspiring entrepreneurs. With an easy and efficient entry to the bazaar, youngsters can easily sell their fresh ideas and unique items to a willing crowd.

The Marché Bazaar helps with social development as well as the promotion of up-and-coming small and medium enterprises. It will be held at the Makati Sports Club, Leviste St., Salcedo Village, Makati City on Nov. 15 and 16, (Saturday and Sunday) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Don’t just spend this Christmas — spend on special things that matter.
