It's your party
The biggest lesson we’ve learned in one year of Supreme is that it isn’t all about us. Beyond our team is what really makes Supreme supreme — these are the hundreds of local livewires we’ve featured, and the thousands of you who lend us your eyes.
So when it came to choosing the perfect event to mark our first year in the Philippine STAR family, we decided to nix the high chairs and party hats, and instead throw three separate shebangs for three different Supreme sets.
3. Philippine All Stars Victory Party
Our first anniversary event happened on Wednesday, Sept.10. We hosted the Philippine All Stars’ victory party at Embassy. The All Stars are back from their win last month at the 2008 World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas. The dance troupe took home the competition’s adult division gold medal, besting acts from all over the globe.
We’ve been friends with the All Stars since before they were the All Stars, and have been witness to their Supreme growth. They started with a few believers, and have exploded into a worldwide fanbase — but have never let it get to them. After their success in Las Vegas, we were the first they messaged. They said, “We just won the gold in the Adult Division of the 2008 World Hip Hop Championship! God is the greatest. He made it all possible again. Thanks for all your prayers! Champions again, yahoo!”
Back at Embassy, the group performed their winning dance numbers to an intimate audience of friends and fans. It was a celebration of love for God and country. All Stars friend Mark Nelson spoke and couldn’t have put it better: “You make me proud to be Pinoy,” he said. “And I’m not even Filipino.”
We have Supreme coverage of this anniversary event! We’re giving you a front-row seat to all the action. Watch Supreme TV at www.supreme.ph!
2. Graphika Manila
Supreme presents the biggest gathering of graphic artists in the country. For the past two years, the Graphika Manila International Multimedia Design Conference has served as the venue for local artists to interact with masters from all over the globe.
This year, it happens on September 20 at the Mall of Asia.
With Web, graphic and multimedia design as a rising element in today’s competitive creative and business environments, it is Supreme’s prime advocacy to uplift the scene. And this year’s conference seems to be the biggest so far. Shortly after we published an article on Graphika Manila, they sold out all their tickets!
It’s no surprise, with the speakers they have: Pixar Animation Studios’ Kristophe Vergne, Tokidoki’s Simone Legno, designer Robert Alejandro, new media masters Collission Theory, and Philippine-based animation studio The Acid House.
What’s more, Tokidoki — a global powerbrand — is mounting a one-night-only exhibit at Embassy, also on the 20th.
There is so much anticipation for the conference that, the organizers tell us, they’ve been swamped with calls, begging them to sell more tickets. Unfortunately, the Premiere Cinema of the Mall of Asia can only hold a limited number of people.
But we’ve got Supreme news: We’re giving away five tickets to the Graphika Manila International Multimedia Design Conference! To join the contest, send us your best artwork at www.supreme.ph/graphikamanila!
1. Supreme to the extreme!
Finally — and foremost — is the first ever Supreme to the Extreme Awards. This year, we are giving recognition to the people who have shaped the youth culture landscape by changing how the game is played.
The Supreme set is a gathering of mavericks, media misfits, artists, and artistas, It-girls, It-boys, connectors, mavens, rockers, ballers, fashion friends, fashion fiends — and maybe a few Gucci ghels in between.
You’ve gotta be there.
15 awards are at stake. From Comeback of the Year to pop’s Best Love Team; from Best Blogger to Televisionaries — we’ve got it all covered.
The nominees: The mix bag of icons that makes us Supreme.
