When lawyers have a good time
The most talked about re-launch of The Firm, the Villaraza Cruz Marcelo & Angangco Law Offices, was recently held at the Peninsula Manila and I must say that I felt truly honored to have emceed this powerhouse event. To say that the re-launch/cocktail party was well-attended would be an understatement. Captains of industry, the who’s who in business, legal and political circles were all present to witness the formal return of former chief presidential legal counsel and Department of National Defense Secretary Avelino “Nonong” J. Cruz, Jr. and former Solicitor General and Ombudsman Simeon “Sonny” V. Marcelo to private practice. From where I stood onstage, the Rigodon Ballroom was filled by people having a great time. Among those who attended were The Firm’s top boss Atty. Pancho Villaraza, Senate President Manny Villar, Senator Mar Roxas and MMDA Chair Bayani Fernando. Other notable attendees were former President Fidel V. Ramos, Senator Ed Angara, Senator Joker Arroyo, Senator Franklin Drilon and House Speaker Prospero Nograles.
The Firm truly knew how to party in style. Wine was overflowing and caviar kept on coming. A sumptuous buffet spread provided great food for the ravenous crowd. The CompanY rendered a few songs to cap off the night. Not only are The Firm’s lawyers top- caliber litigators but could pass as professional event organizers, too. Mind you, The Firm’s relaunch was conceptualized and planned by its lawyers without any outside help.
