Once again, the undertaking was a huge, huge success thanks to the efforts of the enthusiastic walkathon participants of all ages to the cheerful and hardworking UNICEF volunteers and organizers. UNICEF country representative Dr. Nicholas Alipui officially started the event, while hosts Jack Kidwiler, chairman and President of Rosehills Memorial Management Philippines Inc. and VP for sales and marketing Racquel Mendoza made sure everything went smoothly. Also spotted was Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga, who was with his family. Afterwards, families enjoyed bonding over a simple picnic on the green grass of the park, while some of the children had a grand time flying their kites in the strong winds of the area. Then everyone was treated to quality entertainment from The New Minstrels, the countrys most enduring showband, the vocal group Akafellas, and other performers. The funds raised by the event will be used to improve facilities in our public schools and upgrade the teachers skills. Congratulations to UNICEF and Heritage Park for another wildly successful event!
Walking for our schools
The countrys needy students must have cheered for every step taken at UNICEFs "Take a Walk on the Childs Side" walkathon, held at the Heritage Park in Fort Bonifacio. The walkathon was held to raise funds to uplift the state of childrens education in the country. The vast grounds and verdant lawns of the Heritage Park, the countrys most innovative memorial park, were ideal for the event, as the participants thoroughly enjoyed the verdant greeneries and fresh air of the park while taking a stroll for a good cause.
