Hair experts visit Manila

What a hectic week it has been! Your columnist was witness to a number of recent happenings around town. Expert Franck Provost hair consultant Laurent Hebert, the newest member of Franck Provost Manila, recently arrived from Paris to lend his expertise to the local Frank Provost branches here in Manila. Lovely socialite and branch owner Baby Cruz was, of course, the first to sample his artistic stylings!

Welcome to the country, Laurent!
A Dinner-Dance For A Good Cause
The Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI), a non-stock, non-profit charitable organization at the forefront in the campaign against tuberculosis, will sponsor a benefit dinner-dance at the Manila Polo Club on November 4. Incumbent PTSI President Zenaida Quezon-Avanceña, whose father, former President Manuel L. Quezon, succumbed to the disease, made an earnest call for everyone to give their all-out support to the affair.

Lally Laurel-Trinidad
, chairwoman of this year’s Anti-TB Fund Campaign, reiterated the appeal and also lauded the unflinching dedication of Concepcion "Nonie" Basilio, chairman of the dinner-dance event, to make the fundraising campaign a success. An impressive group of ladies were gathered by Nonie to help raise the much-needed funds for the PTSI.

Let us support these ladies for the noble cause that they are undertaking. For ticket inquiries, call 781-3747 and 781-3757.
Carnival Magic
Sparkling tiaras, radiant ladies in colorful dresses and dashing gentlemen in suits filled the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel recently for the Quezonians 1923’s 82nd Anniversary Ball. Themed after the excitement and merriment of the Manila carnival era, the splendid affair was led by gentleman president Dr. Pat Andaman, lady president Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera and prominent members from Manila society such as Governor Baby Bayani-Ortiz.

Highlights of the enchanting evening included the awarding of plaques of appreciation to past presidents and presentation of incoming presidents. Also adding brilliance to the evening was the coronation of 2005 Quezonian Carnival Ball Queen, the lovely Joy Dizon, escorted by the handsome Nicolas Andre. With the success of the ball, surely everyone will be looking forward to next year’s bash.

Congratulations!
