"Idyllic Vision"

Dr. Rafael Rodriguez’s third one-man exhibit of recent works
In these turbulent days, we need to escape from the grim realities of life in the Philippines. One eye doctor offers a respite, away from it all. By way of his photographs, mostly in black and white or monochrome, we are able to escape into a different world. "Idyllic vision" is therefore not only Dr. Rodriguez’s vision, but everyone else’s who wish to see things in a different way.
The photographs depict life’s serene moments, the captured sensitivities of people, the inner sense of life. "These photographs are in one sense, a paradigm shift. They make us understand that beyond our current difficult state, there’s the better image of things", says the eye doctor who has been photographing people and places for more than ten years now. Although the photos are now mostly captured using the digital format, a lot of these have been printed from their raw format without manipulation. He does not believe too much in digitally altering the photos because he wants to impart the same image in his vision to the viewer. "The images seen are fragments of time, and to truly impart these images, I present them as they truly were", he comments. The recent works include photographs taken in Thailand and the United States.
The exhibit is currently ongoing in the lobby of Medical Plaza Makati on Amorsolo St. Legazpi Village until the 22nd of August. It is sponsored by Sun Cellular which also has a booth in the lobby.
