A first for Fila
May 3, 2003 | 12:00am
It was a colorful and summery afternoon indeed when Fila, the international sportswear brand, held its very first polo cup at the Manila Polo Club. Hosted by Filas owner couple Butch and Cris Albert, the very chic event featured dashing polo players, sumptuous food, overflowing drinks, classy entertainment and a bevy of models all garbed in Filas spring-summer 2003 collection.
Four experienced teams competed in this friendly challenge, with the Red Team of Bobby Aguirre, Jose Constantino and Australian guest players Cooch Lynch and Lance Shepherd emerging victorious. The very trendy fashion show which followed was led by Filas beautiful, brainy and charming endorser, the Singapore-based MTV VJ Donita Rose.
The exclusive club was filled with merry hues of pinks, yellows, reds and greens as models sashayed in stylish Fila sportswear. Guests from Metro Manilas high society also donned their own vibrant summer threads.
The events finale was the awarding ceremony where the champions were granted their traditional polo trophies and other bonuses from Fila. As night fell, guests relaxed and enjoyed the enchanting voice of Lynn Sherman while partaking of roast lamb, wine and champagne in quantities truly fit for the sport of kings!
Congratulations for a most enjoyable event! See you at the next Fila event soon!
In the middle of the sea is a beautiful island that has its distinct heartbeat, its own dance. The pristine white sand carpets the long stretch of merry revelers and interesting places. The clear, blue waters invite adventurers to a world waiting to be discovered. There is a so-called heaven on earth, and it is known as Boracay.
You will always find me waxing poetic when speaking about my personal piece of paradise. While in Boracay, I only settle for the perfect getaway spot the Boracay Regency Beach Resort. The Mediterranean-style hotel is the only AAA-rated establishment on the island.
Regency president Henry Chusuey assures that guests of all tastes and lifestyles will find their own treats at the Regency. Jade Estardo, the resorts officer-in-charge, says that many of those who enjoyed their facilities and excellent service keep coming back.
The fabulous resort has 85 well-appointed air-conditioned and native-inspired rooms with lanais overlooking the famous coastline. It also has a swimming pool for kids and adults, Alfons Bar for your preferred potions and the islands first underground beach disco bar, Wave. After downing all the alcoholic drinks and tasteful offerings, you can sweat it all out at the first-class gym.
When it comes to pleasing foodies, the hotel has four restaurants! Prince Hendriks Café, Tapas Tapas Spanish restaurant, Bulgogi Korean House and Tribu Filipino Restaurant have everything to satisfy your cravings and food binges. Among Prince Hendriks Cafés prominent diners include Princess Nawal Mubarak of Oman, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina, ABS-CBNs Freddie Garcia and movie personalities Charo Santos-Concio, Kris Aquino and Giselle Sanchez.
As for me, you will find your columnist in my hawaiian shirt and shorts, sitting idly in the lanai taking in the scenery and sipping my piña colada. Go to the Regency and experience it yourself. I tell you, this is the life!
The venue 20/20 is an entertainment center with a music lounge, main and sports bar on the top floor (20th floor) of Alabangs best-kept secret, The Bellevue Hotel the only 5-star hotel south of Metro Manila.
The 20/20 recently had a soft launch attended by more than 300 corporate clients. There were enchanting music and lively entertainment by an acoustic band and a sultry lounge singer.
The guests enjoyed complimentary Asian and international hot-and-cold canapés, as well as an open bar which lasted until 10 p.m. The attendees also participated in a raffle that had 20 winners of overnight stays for two and dinner buffet gift certificates at Bellevues Café d Asie Asian Specialty Restaurant.
20/20 is a really fun place to spend quiet, relaxing evenings. Music lovers can enjoy their favorite melodies while taking in the panoramic views of the famed Manila Bay sunset, scenic Tagaytay, Laguna de Bay, the Alabang residential areas and the Makati skyline.
See you there!
