Palangga celebrates birthday

The Year of the Water Horse brings new challenges to meet and more opportunities to welcome. We are always drawn to the energy and speed that quantify our self-revealing qualities and innate love for dear friends.

Recently, a very dear colleague, Maurice Arcache, celebrated another special day in his glitzy life. Maurice is a no-nonsense person, one who speaks well, who loves people, one of the best society columnists and definitely one of the best-dressed media persons. You’ll never catch Maurice in a crumpled suit and, more often than not, he dresses in real style.

Add to the list is his being a well-organized person, he always delivers the best in his work, even in the most delicate situation. Being one of the most well-loved media persons, it was to be expected that his friends in high society would gather and celebrate his birthday. His close friends, headed by Nini Licaros, Nene Leonor, Mely Ablaza, Fortune Ledesma and Evie Costa, stood as hosts at an afternoon tea party tendered for him. Well-wishers came in full fashionable force to show their love and support – the lady with a heart for the less privileged Imelda Cojuangco, gorgeous Vilma Valera and old wealth society lady Mely Hechanova. Cinderella’s boss and the celebrator’s close friend Therese Coronel-Santos was there together with Naty Pappas who made her first social appearance after almost a year, Tessie Amparo, Cecile Limjoco, Susan Laudico, Ernie and Fe Yu, Nena del Rosario, Pitang Tiongson, Tereret Liboro, Bobby Novenario, Helen Ong and Betsy Tenchavez. Clearly enjoying the afternoon soiree were Nellie Bengzon, Nena Casimiro, Mabel Abaño, Gilda Salonga, Justa Tantoco, Tessie Luz, Chit Gohu, Letty Hahn and Alice Briones. Of course, there were Josephine Knox, Valerie Cue, Ofie Recto, Charrie Bautista, Philippine STAR’s EVP lady boss Grace Glory Go, Myrna Yao, Julita Villareal and Lulu Castañeda. As well as his pals in media Resty Vergara and Gilbert Perez with Maurice’s third-eye photographer Alex van Hagen and his right hand Dindo Guiterrez.

Party place was the fabulous mansion at North Forbes Park of attractive top socialite Menchu de las Alas Concepcion who also gifted Maurice with a very amusing birthday cake. As all get-togethers go, everyone enjoyed the well-prepared Filipino merienda, catered by close friend Millie Reyes. And as the evening beckoned, and it was time to bid our goodbyes, everyone’s palangga turned misty-eyed, showing his true self – a warm and caring Maurice.
