MANILA, Philippines — United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the official distributor of FOTON vehicles in the Philippines, showed its support to Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. (AKFI) by donating a customized responder truck last July 14.

Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc (AKFI) is the social development arm of TV5 – one of the country’s leading commercial media networks headed by business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan.

Because of its mission to provide responsible, people-oriented, and environment-friendly response to indigent and disaster-affected communities, AKFI needed a vehicle that could assist their team during charity works in various locations in the country.

Armed with the same goal, FOTON Philippines provided AFKI a specially configured FOTON Tornado C 3.5 Truck which can be utilized in the foundation’s disaster response, rehabilitation, and recovery programs.

Providing medical assistance is an air-conditioned clinic composed of a clinic bed with under compartments, spine board, oxygen tank and first aid kit. “This facility will also be used to transport patients needing medical assistance and treatment to the nearest hospital.” said AKFI Executive Director Menchie Silvestre.

FOTON Philippines President Rommel Sytin said, “The FOTON Alagang Kapatid truck also serves as a mobile kitchen wherein they can cook and serve hot meals for the beneficiaries particularly on medical missions and feeding programs.” This section of the truck is equipped with kitchen tools and accessories, aluminium countertops with cabinets, double burner stove, sink, LPG tank, and two water tanks.

For rescue purposes, accentuating the vehicle are rescue equipment compartments, rain and storm safety gears and emergency survival supplies.

“With the use of tools provided in the truck, AKFI will be able to penetrate calamity stricken areas to clear debris which poses possible danger to residents; provide free charging, deliver much needed basic commodities such as food and hygiene items.” noted Silvestre.

FOTON Philippines Executive Vice President Anna Maria Parado exclaimed, “We would like to thank TV5 and Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. for allowing us to help them innovate their mobility and eventually, achieve their purpose for our community development. We are hoping that they continue to bring assistance and hope to our fellow Filipinos in need.”

“This vehicle will definitely go a long way in making it more possible for AKFI to bring immediate help to more beneficiaries not only within Metro Manila but also in far flung areas, mostly unreachable by other organizations.” said Silvestre. “Because of the FOTON Alagang Kapatid truck, our team is now more inspired to touch more lives.” she closed.
