MANILA, Philippines — Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) announced last week the appointment of Mutsuhiro Oshikiri as MMPC’s new President and Chief Executive Officer effective August 1, 2017.

Oshikiri will succeed Yoshiaki Kato, who started his assignment in MMPC in March 2015. Although he was the youngest President and CEO (at the age of 49) assigned to MMPC with just a short term of only two years and four months, Kato-san was able to drive the company towards several significant milestones. As he concludes his term in the Philippines, he will be leaving a great legacy and will be remembered for his hard work and dedication in driving the company to achieving its goals.

It was during Kato’s term when MMPC officially moved its manufacturing plant and offices from Cainta, Rizal to Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. This move marks MMPC’s expansion as the company fully participates on the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program. MMPC was the first automotive manufacturer to receive the approval from the Department of Trade and Industry – Board of Investments to participate in CARS program.

Also notable was the realization of MMPC’s participation on the CARS program under Kato’s presidency. The first locally produced Mirage G4 was rolled off and presented to the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in a ceremony held at the Malacañang Palace last February.

With this, MMPC was also able to record its highest production output in May 2017. Meanwhile, the local production of the Mirage (hatchback) was started in June 2017. Another accomplishment during his term was the sustained sales growth. In fact, MMPC recorded its 10th consecutive sales growth last year and even achieved a record-breaking sales of 61,400 units of vehicles sold. So far, this is the highest annual vehicle sales ever that MMPC was able to register.

MMPC is highly confident to further years of progressive business with the new leadership. MMPC’s incoming President and CEO, Oshikiri-san was previously assigned as the CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd. (MMAL). He has been CEO of MMAL since 2012.

Oshikiri’s vast experience in handling various foreign markets under MMC and his expertise in the field of Marketing and After Sales is expected to drive MMPC towards even more successful years ahead. MMPC expects that sales will continue to surge together with an improved market share. With Oshikiri’s leadership, MMPC is committed to continue strengthening the company and the Mitsubishi brand for the benefit of its stakeholders most specifically its valued clients.

MMPC is pleased to welcome its new President and CEO, Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, as the company carries on its dedication to provide world-class products and services to the Philippine market.
