MANILA, Philippines — Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) recently unveiled what it likes to call its ‘ultimate Gen-S scooter’ – the all-new Honda Click 150i. The Click 150i was launched during Honda’s 2017 Scooter Fest, which kicked off at the Solaire Resort and Casino recently, and culminated at the Baywalk in Manila.

The Click 150i is now Honda’s flagship scooter that also happens to have the biggest displacement among its existing Gen-S scooter models, which include the Click 125i, the new BeAT, and the Zoomer-X.

The Click 150i is designed with distinctive, sporty stripes; a stylish, more aggressive look and comes in premium, matte-finish colors. It is specially developed for high performance and carries a liquid-cooled 150cc SOHC engine. This engine is incorporated with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) – a Honda smart technology that promises lower emissions – and with an ACG starter that promotes smoother engine performance. And like its lower-displacement counterpart, it offers its owners the option of activating its Idling Stop System (ISS) – a technology that helps save fuel (and the planet, from carbon emissions) by turning the engine off when it is idling for long.

The Click 150i boasts 18 liters worth of storage in its U-box compartment, enough to accommodate a full-face helmet and other articles. It also has a Philippine-first, unique ‘Advanced Answer Back System,’ which makes it easier for the owner to locate his bike (amid a flurry of closely-parked motorcycles) by sounding off a tune and blinking its lights once a remote control button is pressed. In a country where most parking lots provide very compact parking spaces for 2-wheeled vehicles, this feature may easily be a breath of fresh air. The scooter may be detected from 15m away, and the owner has three tones to choose from – or may simply opt to turn the audible part off.

Meanwhile, the designers also claim that the highlight stripe in front of the bike is also meant to make the vehicle more distinguishable, when parked with many other bikes.

Lastly, the Honda Click 150i promises its riders more bottom-end torque alongside fuel efficiency incomparable with its competitors in the same category. Among its premium features are ABS and a combined braking system that provides proper balance between the scooter’s front and rear brakes for much more stable deceleration. It is Euro 3-compliant and its SRP starts at P89,900.

When asked why they call their bikes ‘Generation-S scooters,’ HPI President Mihara explained that it is because it represents their push for younger people to use their motorbikes. “We at Honda are embracing the evolution that moves us forward to the future,” he said during the press conference. Furthering that “The Gen-S riders are always at the helm of all things new. We share their interest and thirst for ingenuity that shapes our world today and tomorrow.”

President Mihara also said that he is confident that the new Click 150i will increase the market leadership of Honda in the AT and sports motorcycles categories. The Click 150i is now available in all Honda 3S shops nationwide.
