Manila has worst traffic on Earth, says Waze

MANILA, Philippines - It's official: Metro Manila has the worst traffic on earth. 
 
Popular GPS-based navigation app Waze recently released the world's first "Global Driver Satisfaction Index," determined by evaluating the driving experience of of 50 million users in 32 countries and 167 metro areas.
 
Results of the study by Waze showed that on a city level, Metro Manila has the worst traffic, followed by Bandung in Indonesia and Guatemala in Central America.

 
According to the study, average commute in Manila can last up to 45.5 minutes, the longest compared to 18 other metro cities in the world.
 
While Manila ranks worst in the app's traffic index and socio-economic index, the safety index by Waze reported that the Philippines has the safest roads based on number of traffic accidents.
 
According to the app's blog, the Driver Satisfaction Index is based on these six factors:
 
1. Traffic level by frequency and gravity of traffic jams
 
2. Road quality and infrastructures
 
3. Driver safety, based on accidents, road hazards and weather
 
4. Driver services, including access to gas stations and ease of parking and car services
 
5. Socio-economic factor, according to World Bank, and includes access to cars and impact of gas prices
 
6. "Wazeyness" or mood scoring, how helpful and happy the users are within the Waze community
