The Incredible Hulk (2008): THE MARTIAN MANHUNTER
Hero: J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter
Villain/s: Imperium; US Military
Plot:
If there is one consistent thing about both Marvel and DC, it is that it’s not easy being green.
While it’s doubtful the DC’s resident Martian is on par with the Hulk’s superhero icon status, and while he is not the intuitive equivalent for Marvel’s gamma-scientist-turned-green-rage-monster, a Martian Manhunter movie would have a compelling storyline about a refugee alien observing humanity in their merits and foibles. In short, J’onn Jonzz would have the similar position of being isolated and an outsider — not to mention violently pursued by the US military.
A Martian Manhunter film could do very well to introduce aliens into the world, with his name stemming from a very public hunt by the military to depict him as dangerous. But ultimately he’ll step up to save the world that hates and fears him from Imperium — the alien responsible for the wiping out of almost all Martiankind.
(Post-Credits Scene: General Wade Eiling notes that the existence of aliens and their unbelievable power means they have to take steps to defend themselves. Scientist Heinrich Megala informs him that it might be a good enough reason to revive the Captain Atom Project.)
