Herve Chapelier: From Paris to Philippines

Alixandra Caole Vila - The Philippine Star

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – You do not have to fly to Paris, New York, or Tokyo anymore because the French luxury bag and luggage brand Herve Chapelier has finally landed in the Philippines. Driven by the ambition to cross the continent to promote both fashion and function, Herve Chapelier launched its latest collection at the Upper Ground Floor, SM Aura on June 16, 2014.

This revolutionized brand was founded by its namesake. With the company’s goal to keep up with the ever-changing lifestyle, careers and social habits of today’s women, Herve Chapelier unveiled a cutting-edge collection, the Nylon Line Collection, GP Line Collection, Condura Line, Camouflage-Cordura Line and Camouflage-Basic Nylon Line.

To celebrate the luxury of the revolutionized women, Herve Chapelier unleashed a battalion of camo-print totes, found in variety of shapes, which can be made from basic nylon or the cordura from breathable polyamide. On the other hand, for women with fun and fresh palette preference, vibrant totes and two-toned GP hand-carry luggage are showcased, ranging from naval-influenced colors such as coral pink, navy blue, tan, turquoise, cobalt and sand. To wrap up the daring and innovative collection, nylon and cordura lines in neutral shades of black, grays and blues, with a berry for a hint of sass are also made available to cater to women with sophisticated taste for the classics.

Also exhibited in the event are some bags designed by the rising young artists from the Philippines. The bags were inspired by the artist’s thoughts about Paris, France. According to Soleil Ignacio, who designed the bag with a theme, Narrow Streets of Cobble Stone, “Paris can make one feel soft and bold, airy and fragrant, golden and spar.” The fashion illustrator used minimal designs to emulate simplicity, while having the two sides of the bag painted with opposing shades for its day and night look.

On the other hand, Tokwa Peñaflorida, a 23-year old painter, opted to design something bold, sensual, and elegant as reflected by the many elements on his bag. According to him the bag is the interpretation of one of the most enigmatic and influential emblems in history, the fleur de lis, the stylized lily, which symbolizes beauty, passion, and courage.

Herve Chapelier made the event even more exhilarating by giving away Herve Bags to the event attendees through an #OOTD CONTEST via Instagram. The mechanics of the competition included posting the contestant’s “ootd” together with her choice of Herve Chapelier Bag, captioning it with their answers on “Tell us what Herve Bag suits your style and why?” tagging @hervechapelierph, and using the #hervechapelierph.

The well-attended event saw the presence of former beauty queen Maggie Wilson, actress G. Toengi, and other personalities like Anna Palabyab-Rufino, Steph Gonzales, and Pia Magalona.

Boasting with combative edge, hint of urban function, and a dose of modern mobility---Herve Chapelier’s first ever boutique in Southeast Asia is now open at the Upper Ground Floor of SM Aura Premier, Philippines.
