Shoe Review: John Wall's Adidas CrazyQuick 2
MANILA, Philippines – John Wall looks unstoppable in the NBA playoffs. Thanks, in part, to his new signature shoe Adidas CrazyQuick 2.
The CrazyQuick 2 is designed specifically for guards who run the court like cars in the Need for Speed game console.
At first glance, the shoe design is one of the best I’ve seen from Adidas lately. I’ve been a fan of their crazylight series but the brand with three stripes managed to up the ante in this one.
The dark blue (almost like a purple to me) and silver gradient colorway is complemented with three red stripes and the letters W-A-L-L in the four specially marked eyelets for its laces.
The overall design looks good on Wall’s Washington away jersey.
I played with the Crazyquick 2 both on indoor and outdoor basketball court for one month since I received the package from Green Bulb PR and Adidas Philippines and here’s my attempt at giving you a performance review.
Lockdown
The first thing I noticed upon wearing the CrazyQuick2 is the snug-fit feel. My feet were like wrapped around by a foam-like cushion. It’s soft but at the same time supportive. This is one of the strengths of Adidas technology. The snugness prevents your foot from sliding up and down if you get your right size. For a player like Wall, who relies on explosive, quick first step, this shoe is a lockdown winner.
Cushioning
The flexible outsole design of the CrazyQuick 2 works wonders for the cushioning of the shoe. You feel comfortable running and gliding as they tend to bend and follow your quick steps. The EVA midsole cushioning of the shoe gives you a soft, comfortable feeling while the insoles cushion the impact of your weight on the heel when running at quick speed.
Traction
During my initial test on a wooden court, the traction of the shoe felt great. I did not have a hard time moving and never slipped while cutting from one corner to the other. When used on outdoors, I played perfectly fine with it as the outsoles of the shoe were able to hold their own against rough surface of a cemented court.
Breathability and Durability
With its QUICKWEB technology, my feet had the right amount of space to breathe. The latest Adidas technology stuck with my feet like a real spider’s web. But it also allowed my feet to move freely giving superior comfort.
After a month of usage, the shoe has only minimal creases, thanks largely to its modest combination of mesh and rubber design.
Overall, the CrazyQuick 2 is a lightweight shoe but performs heavily on the court. John Wall’s flamboyant character is also all over the design of the shoe which gives you added swag when sporting it casually.
Priced at Php 6,995, the Adidas CrazyQuick 2 is a steal considering the Php 8,000-10,000 range of the other NBA players’ signature shoes. John Wall’s latest signature shoe is recommended for quick backcourt and wing players who love to run the court and in constant motion.
