Outbreak Mission: Run with the zombies, Preserve history!
MANILA, Philippines- Outbreak Manila takes the experience a notch higher with Outbreak Mission.
Outbreak Mission is the third installment of the first two Outbreak Missions held October and November in 2013 at the Filinvest City.
“We're not just a fun run anymore, there is a dynamic story behind this run,†Angelo Cruz, founder of Outbreak Manila, said. “We want it to be a movie-like experience for the participants.â€
It's not a race, it's a mission
Cruz also adds that besides the “story†behind the run, Outbreak Mission is not just a “fun run†where the participants choose the length of their run.
“The route is dependent on the choices the participants make,†Cruz explained. “If the participants makes all the right decisions, they could be done as quick as 3 or 4 km.
“But if they take a hard time deciding or make the wrong decisions, this could be as long as 7 to 8 km. So there's not just a start and an end, this is a choose your own adventure with the zombies.â€
The historical place was chosen as next venue of the event because the mission is actually related to the venue and the theme which is “Katipunero era†of the Philippines.
“There in Intramuros, there is a statue, a landmark which is dedicated for the person who brought the smallpox vaccine in the Philippines,†Cruz explained. “What we're going to do is in the story, back in the Katipunero days, mayro'n na palang zombies.â€
With this, participants should expect to see zombie Katipuneros, Spaniards, Americans, and Japanese who also colonized the country.
For this Outbreak Mission, participants have to put two things in mind: find Dr. Adarna, and stop the Brotherhood.
“This April 5, our mission is called Project Stronghold. The premise of the story is Dr. Adarna and his crew moved to Intramuros to work on their supposed cure for the zombie plague. But Dr. Adarna is captured by a ruthless group we call the Brotherhood. So Dr. Adarna and the Brotherhood are after this cure in Intramuros.â€
