11th-hour gift ideas

MANILA, Philippines - So you haven't wrapped anything yet, but won't dare brave the shopping rush anymore.
You're thinking of getting online to order gifts, but then worry about when they'd get delivered.
You're not the arts-and-crafts type, so do-it-yourself gifts are out of the question.
Don't worry. There still are alternatives that you can give your loved ones this Christmas.
Causes they love. Pledge support in their name for the causes that they are most passionate about. Your family or friend might appreciate the gesture more than unwrapping a gift bought without much thought.
A skip and a song. Put that mad singing/or dancing skills to work. Serenade your loved ones or put on a dance performance during noche buena. Just be sure that such display of skill should produce either awe or laughter. Anything in between might not exactly be appreciated.
Say it in coupons. You know those coupons that you can find in bookstores and novelty shops that contain tasks that you can do for loved ones? Why not just make one? You don't have to get all creative with the presentation, but do get a little imaginative when you think of the tasks that you would do for your recipients.
Give up something you love. Your sister has been eyeing that dress you that you use only during special events. You have a nephew who has been asking you to open the box of an action figure that's part of your collection. It may hurt a little, we know, but it would also feel good eventually to see a loved one smile (or go crazy) when you finally give them something that they've been coveting for years. - Ruth Sindico
