Leo Martinez opens up about Cherie Gil, their son Jay, his other kids
MANILA, Philippines — Actor-comedian Leo Martinez opened up about the good relationship his six children from three different women have with one another, including his son with the late actress Cherie Gil.
Leo and fellow actor Gina Pareño appeared for an interview by another actress Snooky Serna for her YouTube channel uploaded last January 6.
In a video segment involving throwback photos, Leo first talked about his current wife Gina Valenciano — who he has been married to for 36 years now — and their eldest child of three, Lesley Valenciano Martinez.
Asked by Snooky what their secret to their lasting relationship, Leo simply replied, "Respect."
The next photo was Leo flanked by his six children, including US-based sound engineer Jay Eigenmann, his son with Cherie, who will be turning 37 years old on January 19.
Jay was only a year old when Leo and Cherie ended their relationship.
"Whenever they ask me, 'Ilan ang anak mo?' Ang sagot ko — two, one, three… Two sa una, one kay Cherie, three kay Gina," Leo said, adding his children are in good terms, which he finds fulfilling. "Up to now, they're seeing each other in the States."
Leo also noted that Gina and Cherie were very good friends while the latter was alive. Cherie passed away aged 59 last August 2022 after a battle with endometrial cancer. — Video from Snooky Serna's YouTube channel
