As you reach the golden years, it’s only natural to start focusing on healthier options.

Now that you've reached your golden years, you have probably heard your children say, "I told you not to eat this. And that. And that one, too!" Don’t feel bad and don’t get them wrong. It’s only natural for your children to seek healthier food options for you.

These moments are of course familiar. You will be taken back to the days you tell your children to avoid unhealthy food.

And because you understand where they are coming from, you want to meet them halfway. Ask them to help you come up with a healthy, delicious and enjoyable diet plan. Afterwards, ask them to join you in shipping for fresh goods at the grocery or the local farmer's market.

To help you map a new health journey with the family, check out these nutritious meals:

Cereals and fruits

We have always loved the classic milk-cereal combination. But now that we’re responding to our bodies’ needs as we age, we need to spice up the usual favorites.

Your favorite fortified cereal and delicious Nestlé BOOSTTM OPTIMUM pairing can be part of your fun and healthy journey even after 50.

Add a few slices of your favorite fruits, such as banana, strawberry, kiwi, mango or orange to make the experience more delectable. To discover more exciting recipes, check out this link

The simple and classic plate, made more special with a few slices of fruits, are filled with vitamins B and C. Consuming the right levels of these vitamins keep your mind and body alert and energized, allowing you to remember and celebrate special events such as anniversaries, birthdays and reunions.

Green scrambled eggs

Whenever we eat, we always try to have a good serving of vegetables. But as we gain the white stripes of wisdom, we also have to find ways to make our meals appetizing and fun to prepare.

For breakfast, add vibrance to your usual egg omelet. To do this, first you have prepare green peas, tomatoes, whisked eggs, chopped spring onions, broccoli florets, Chinese cabbage or your favorite vegetables. Then, mix all the vegetables in a pan until cooked. Carefully add eggs into the mixture. Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Aside from giving you a healthy, colorful plate every morning, the protein from eggs provides amino acids that help maintain healthy skin, muscles and bones, reducing the chances of joint pains.

Salmon with asparagus

If you want a delicious meal that will also improve your cognitive function, salmon with asparagus should be the star of the table.

To prepare, massage a mixture of olive oil, parsley, salt and pepper over the salmon. Then cook in a grill pan for about two to five minutes. Put the fish aside and toss in the stalks of asparagus. Let sizzle for 30 seconds. Carefully plate the salmon and asparagus before adding lemon juice and sprinkling salt and pepper.

Aside from helping complete your nutritional needs, the meal is rich in protein and vitamin B that help maintain a clear, focused mind, supporting your cognitive function.

While on your way to improving the quality of your life with balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, don’t forget a delicious and nutrients-packed glass of Nestlé BOOST™ OPTIMUM, Nestlé Health Science’s adult nutritional drink that helps improve physical performance in as early as six weeks when combined with physical exercise.*
