FQ (Financial Intelligence Quotient)
It has been almost four years since FQMom.com was born. For some of you, we may have been together since RaisingPinoyBoys.com in 2011.
For that, I wish to thank you very much for your time in reading my articles and books. Special thanks to those who take time out to send me emails and private messages to share how my pieces affect them. Your feedback is food for my soul.
Recently, I have been feeling quite sentimental as I realize that my husband and I are actually done with our parental duty of sending all our children to school. It feels great – a combination of pride, happiness and nostalgia to realize how fast time flies. (Click link 1 and link 2 for more of this.)
Another source of pride and excitement for me these days is that yes, after four long years, my fourth baby is finally coming out! "FQ: The nth Intelligence" the book.
I’m pretty excited about this project because it took some time to finally bring it to life. It puts together what I know about this subject which is very dear to me. Your comments, questions, and feedback also form part of this book. It is my life’s work since my so-called “second wind.”
I have partnered with ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. on this project because I really want to reach as many people as I can. I want to make FQ not just a by-word but I want everyone to mind their FQ before it’s too late. I want everyone who reads the book to not just use the lessons for him/herself but to share it with family, friends and people within his/her circle of influence.
We can have the region’s, or even the world’s, best GDP growth rate, but our nation can never be truly prosperous if its citizens wallow in poverty. Over the last years, despite our economic growth, the income inequality remains wide and this is not good for everyone.
A mall story
Now I realize that as you get older, the nagging feeling to do something beyond your immediate family intensifies. I remember one time when I was at a mall and it was already closing time. I saw a group of young workers – three ladies and a man. Late at night, they were closing their shop, talking about their next sueldo and someone’s tiring extended shift that day. They looked tired but were still happily doing their work, with that typical Pinoy light-heartedness joking on the side, while helping each other perform their final task for the day. Right there, I observed what a lot of foreigners tell us – that we are a genuinely caring and generous people. Then I wondered, “Are these kids saving and investing from their salaries right now?” My mind went fast-forward into 30 years, “If these young happy employees fail to save and invest systematically, they will also grow old unprepared for a decent retirement.”
Would you believe, I felt the urge to pause and ask them, “Are you saving and investing even a small percentage of your salary right now?” I might even go on to give them a free FQ 101 talk right there. But of course, that will sound creepy. They might think I’m peddling one of those scam investments offering three to six percent per month guaranteed! So I controlled myself.
But the reality is, we should all try to influence people to prepare for a decent old age. Maybe not to start blurting out the basic laws of money to strangers in a mall, but if we’re given the opportunity to help others, especially those within our circle of influence, we should.
How you can help
I am reaching out to you to help spread this important message. Chances are, you are already aware of your FQ, especially if you’ve been reading my articles for years now. I hope you have somehow helped others be aware of theirs as well.
You may wish to consider this as a way of helping others understand this emotionally charged topic of money, and do something about their needed preparation for decent old age. We are pre-selling the book at a discounted price until June 30, 2018. Should you have at least three people in mind to give this to, we will also waive the courier charges for Philippine addresses and deliver them to your doorstep for free.
If you’re interested, click this link - limited offer.
If you have a company or organization interested in wholesale discounts, we have more in store for you. Please email us at FQMomm@gmail.com to inquire.
I look forward to your support on this project. Let’s make FQ everyone’s business.
Maraming salamat po.
