MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 20 years since he has been diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 1999, veteran actor Michael de Mesa announced that he has been finally cured.

"Most of you know that I found out I had the Hepatitis C virus back in 1999. Long story short, after 2 decades, I am CURED of my Hepatitis C!!! It is gone! Praise God!” De Mesa wrote on his Instagram account.

He narrated that his with Julie never stopped searching for the cure. Four years ago, the cure for his ailment has been released, but it was too expensive. Fortunately, his wife found a generic version in India.

“The Harvoni pill costs $1,000/pill. It’s a 12-week treatment amounting to around $90,000+. Crazy, right? Luckily, Julie was able to find a generic version from India which was just $1,000 for the WHOLE 12-week treatment already!” De Mesa wrote.

De Mesa shared that before treatment, his viral count was 35 million. But after just four weeks into the treatment, his viral count went down to 1,200.

“Anything below 2,000 is actually considered undetected already. By the end of the treatment, it was zero, zilch, nada, UNDETECTED! Got retested this week after 3 months post treatment just for good measure, and it’s still undetected,” he added.

“On my birthday today, I want to thank the Lord for another year of life. I also want to thank Him for bringing Julie into my life, making her His instrument, so that I can enjoy many more years with my loved ones,” he said.

For those people who have the same ailment like him, the veteran actor is open for any inquiries as he wanted people to direct message his wife Julie for further inquiries.
