MANILA, Philippines — As Christians worldwide celebrate Easter, the resurrection and redemptive story of Jesus Christ, celebrity cosmetic doctor Dr. Hayden Kho Jr. shares how he turned his life around after a sex scandal with celebrities that eventually led to the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
In the following video shot during a Watsons Philippines event, Kho shared how he found redemption and how others could do the same for their lives.
According to Kho, whenever he was asked how he changed, he had been very careful on what to say.
“It was a scary question, because we’re ashamed of it,” he admitted.
He explained that his search for identity led him to imagine he was a Casanova. “The reason I was who I was before and was doing what I did before is because I didn’t know who I am.”
After the scandal, he rebuilt himself by going on an “Eat, Pray, Love” kind of soul searching, such as spending a month with the monks.
While on a sabbatical, he discovered that to be able to change for the better, he should not change his feeling, but his being.
“Now that there is so many fake news, why do we try to look for truth for a better life elsewhere, when Jesus has already said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life?’,” Kho pointed out.
Apart from finding his identity as a Christian, Kho has been able to sustain his transformation into a loving husband to Dr. Vicki Belo-Kho and as a father to Scarlet Snow by remembering the following:
- Be humble and remember that everything you have is not yours, but God’s.
- You can’t keep on living for self-fulfillment.
- Look in between the way of God and the way of the world, and look at the world through the way of God.
A successful transformation story, according to him, is about a person who practices spirituality, faith, worship, and humility. — Video by Erwin Cagadas
