Behind-the-scenes no more: Short film recognizes mom’s endless efforts every holiday
MANILA, Philippines — Decorating the house, shopping for and wrapping gifts, and cooking Noche Buena dishes. These Christmas preparations look so simple but when done collectively, they require much energy and effort.
And often, we overlook the one person who does these at home: Our mothers.
Selfless as they are, moms always stay on top of holiday happenings. They take all the major responsibilities, troubleshoot when problem arises and accomplish last-minute preparations.
Recognizing all this and giving moms the credit they deserve, Lady’s Choice presents “Mom Behind the Scenes,” the last of its three-part Christmas Special.
The short film portrays the struggles of a mom days before December 25. She is seen in realistic situations like getting stuck in long lines in the grocery, or staying up late just to wrap mountains of gifts for friends and families. At one point, the supermom even has to fix the Christmas lights just so the whole home turns up bright and colorful.
Yet despite the series of unfortunate events, she does not forget her specialty, a big bowl of Lady’s Choice macaroni salad. She gets the aid of her pretty, little daughter, and together they prepare the many ingredients, macaroni, carrots, onions, pickle relish, cooked ham, pineapple, chicken, ham and cheese. They add a hefty amount of Lady’s Choice mayonnaise to bind everything together.
The scene is reminiscent of our homes because Lady’s Choice macaroni salad is a staple of Noche Buena in the Philippines. It’s the one dish mothers choose to serve the whole family and guests because of its balanced sweet and savory flavor.
To our show appreciation, we then give moms happy smiles, praises and occasional hugs and kisses for her winning macaroni salad recipe — enough reward for her endless efforts this holiday season.
