MANILA, Philippines — In this digital world, coding is one of the skills that could definitely take you to greater heights. Almost everything now is done online, and all of these require programs coded for specific functions.

Even kids can already learn the fundamentals of coding. Not only will they be equipped with technical skills, they will also exercise logic, critical thinking and creativity in more ways than one.

Here are some cool things about kids' coding that will get children hooked right away:

1. Coding can serve as 'superpower' for kids

The ability to communicate with robots, computers and gadgets is probably the coolest superpower that kids can get. Imagine, they can try to make a robot say “Hi” or teach a machine to solve simple math problems. Our future is literally in their hands (and fingertips)!

2. Kids' coding can be taught without a computer

Kids won’t need a computer to code. Simple activities like solving jigsaw puzzles and debating about simple topics help exercise the kids’ critical thinking. With this, they are instilled the basics of coding and eventually, their interests are ignited.

You know what they say about kids being fast learners? It’s not only true for language and counting, but also for coding. Coding can be easy as learning the alphabet and counting numbers if done right. So it’s essential to teach them in a fun and interactive way!

4. Coding helps widen kids' perspectives

“Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains,” Bill Gates says. Of course, learning is beneficial to anyone. But imagine what the kids can do in the future if they understand basic coding language at a young age.

5. Coding culture is on the rise

We all know the stories of millennials taking over the world with apps and programs that help make life easier. All of them use coding to realize their vision of a better-connected, more convenient world. And now, with the tools made available to children through this generation’s fast-paced digital transformation, it is easier and more accessible for them to emulate or even surpass the achievements of the past generation.
