Sam Pinto: How to stay bikini-worthy
Actress, VJ and model Sam Pinto is all aglow nowadays. She has a huge following in social media (almost six million on Facebook and over one million each on Twitter and Instagram). Lately, they stand witness to the beautiful romance between her and Azkals star athlete Misagh Bahadoran as well as all her bikini photos promoting her swimwear line.
This stunner is also a very enterprising lady. She has launched a bikini line called Sirena and will soon open a new surf resort in Baler. Full of optimism and exuding a youthful glow, she makes health a priority. For her, that means making lifestyle choices geared towards holistic wellness – despite the fact that it takes a lot more work.
We caught up with her and boyfriend Misagh in the gym. She let us in on her lifestyle.
THE PHILIPPINE STAR: How did you get into show business?
SAM PINTO: I’ve been modeling since I was 10 years old. I was in the mall buying fries and someone from a modeling agency came up to me and asked if I wanted to model. Then I joined PBB ... that started everything.
You’re also an entrepreneur. We heard you launched a swimsuit line.
I have a bikini line called Sirena. I’ve always loved the water. I learned to swim before walking. Since then, they have called me Sirena (mermaid). I’m into surfing and I took fashion design in college. I thought: Why don’t I put together all the things I love? So that’s the beach, bikinis, and designing. That’s how I came up with Sirena.
How do you keep your body in the best shape?
Every day, I do at least 20 minutes of workout. I wake up 20 minutes earlier. I work out at home with apps or I use my coach’s program and do it at home. Right now, I’m just working on my butt and abs. For my abs, I do crunches and I use a foam roller. I do ab twists. I do more toning exercises. I don’t lift weights. I use ankle weights for my butt.
You won the title the sexiest woman alive. Did you consciously work for it?
It’s living a full fit lifestyle. At home, we have healthy food. Our rice has different colors --purple, brown, and red. Every day, we have veggie juice with beets or ampalaya. You have to mix it with fruits to make it drinkable. Since I was young, I’ve been exposed to healthy food. In my line of business, it’s hard to be healthy; during tapings, we just eat what’s available. Whenever I have the chance, and at home, I always eat healthy food.
How does working out help you mentally and physically?
Physically, I saw how I am way stronger in everything I do and have more energy. When you’re fit, you feel that you can do more.
Do you follow any particular diet?
I don’t eat much, but I eat often. I eat everything like pizza and burgers but in small amounts.
How does it help to eat small meals more frequently?
It’s what we’re used to at home. I never gained weight or changed weight for that matter.
Any favorite healthy food?
My mom bakes healthy oatmeal cookies. I love sweets. My aunt is a natural doctor. If your body hurts, drink magnesium. All natural, no chemicals.
Have you felt that all this natural stuff has benefits?
I’ve never tried chemical, just natural, so I can’t compare, but it does work.
What advice would you give other people as one of the most fit celebrities?
For me, once you start aging, you really can feel the difference in your body. As much as possible, stay the way you were before. Work hard so that you can do more and feel better about yourself.
What’s next for Sam Pinto?
I’m putting up a beach resort in Baler. So hopefully, by December, we’ll have our soft opening. In terms of showbiz, maybe a movie would be the next big thing.
Why do you love your shape? How do you encourage others to love their shape?
I love my shape because I worked hard for it and I’m happy with it. When you work hard for your body, in return from the inside, you feel good. If you have it, flaunt it! If you have the boobs, ass, legs, then you flaunt it. Improve on it. Be proud of it.
How is it being in a relationship with the most sought-after Azkal?
Our lifestyles are very different. I’m a party girl. I like going out. I like drinking wine. He’s very focused. He has training every day and games. It tamed me. I became a homebody. Being with him makes my body happy. I sleep early and I don’t have so much alcohol -- but I wasn’t that bad before!
