DIY Halloween decors to spook out your neighbors

Alixandra Caole Vila - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines- Halloween is always a great time to decorate. It is the time when you get to bring out your creative and imaginative side to think of any decoration that would make your house the most terrifying one on your village.

You may be worried about your budget, but you do not really have to spend a fortune on Halloween décor.  Make some great pieces and spook up your home without spending a lot of money by following these DIY home decors for the Halloween as instructed by DIYnetwork.

Little Caspers
Gather your unused sheer white cloth or any light white fabric material. Wrap it around an inflated balloon and hang it or tie it on the trees in front of your house.

Pumpkin Lamp
Worried about setting your house on fire? How about carving a pumpkin and putting a battery operated light inside it? You may place it outside or inside your house as an alternative light for the house. Aside from making your house a little spooky it also saves electricity.

Jar-o'-lantern

No pumpkin, but have jars? Use your jars instead! No need for carving, just wrap an orange japanese paper around it. Use black ones for eyes and mouth.

Eyeball Wreath
I am sure you have a wreath from last year’s Christmas. Use it for the Halloween by wrapping a black cloth or black feathers around it and adding some artificial eyeball which you can buy from bazaar for a very cheap price. Put it in your front door and I am sure no one’s going to dare knock on your door. No eyeballs? Try spiders, or cockroaches, any creepy insect will do.

Haunted sign
Do you have a lamp post in front of your house? Gather a cardboard and write any spooky passage on it. Hang it onto the lamp post to make a “haunted” house appeal on your house. No lamp post? Your door will do. Use a water-based paint and write a creepy penmanship to greet your visitors.

Silhouettes
Remember those grade school projects where your teachers require you to cut out papers into pieces all the time? This maybe the season to bring your artsy side once again. Gather a black cartolina paper and cut out shapes of goblins and dwarves. Stick them on your window to scare your neighbors away.

Glowing Eyes
Got a cardboard? Cut out an eye-shaped form from it and roll it. Inside the rolled cardboard, attach a glowing stick. Put it on the bushes. It will come to light in the dark and give bone chills to the passersby.
