Buteyko breathing for a stress-free holiday season
MANILA, Philippines - Stress comes easily during the holidays, but dealing at the same time with any of the four most common health problems asthma, sleep apnea, allergies, and anxiety disorders certainly makes things worse.
“Stress always leads to hyperventilation or overbreathing, which results in the real culprit in any of these debilitating and even life-threatening health conditions — the lack of enough carbon dioxide,†says Jac Vidgen, an Australian senior Buteyko Method practitioner.
Vidgen says that this is “critical to allow effective oxygenation of cells, maintain balance, regulate systems and processes efficiently, and sustain optimal functioning of the body.â€
A clinically acknowledged breathing reconditioning program, Buteyko Method works primarily with breathing, but incorporates modifications in diet, sleeping patterns, posture, and exercises, among other factors.
The only complementary treatment endorsed by the British Medical Association for asthma and accepted in Australia, the United States, Canada, and other countries, the method has helped thousands of Filipinos find lifetime safe and drug-free relief from asthma and other diseases.
