RunRio – Battle of the Sexes registration extended to February 24

MANILA, Philippines - Run Rio – Battle of the Sexes registration extended to February 24 and has added a 5k run and modified the evening run to a morning run as per popular demand.

The morning Fun Run is rescheduled on the 3rd of March 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds in Pasay in order to accommodate more runners. The Battle of the Sexes Fun Run’s unique concept of male vs female is probably a first in the country with both 10 k and 5k race. Male and female participants will compete with each other in one finish line, one venue, one distance. Female runners will run first then after 7 to 10 minutes, male runners will start the race. 

All runners will have a chance to win the “One Million Luxury Stay Package” which includes a three night’s stay at the Imperial Suite, ten gift certificates of lunch/dinner buffet for two in Spiral and five gift certificates at Le Spa, Sofitel Manila’s luxury spa center. The raffle draw will be held after the race.  Winners of the Battle of the Sexes Fun Run will have one overall winner who will win an overnight stay at a Sofitel Suite with breakfast for two at Spiral.  Each category will have one male and one female top winner where each winner will win an overnight stay at Sofitel Philippine Plaza with breakfast for two at Spiral.

RunRio, Inc. is partnering with Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the only French luxury hotel in Manila, to organize their first fun run for the year.  There will be ten (10) age level categories that runners can join to. RunRio is a series of 10k fun run organized by RunRio, Inc., headed by the foremost running coach in the country, Coach Rio de la Cruz.

Sofitel Philippine Plaza General Manager, Goran Aleks says, “We have partnered with track and field coach, Rio de la Cruz who is an icon of the youth for espousing fitness in order to promote the importance of health and fitness to the Filipinos.  In addition, all the proceeds of the RunRio will go to Virlanie Foundation to help alleviate the plight of the street children in Manila.”
