Azkals are the newest Village people
MANILA, Philippines - The Village Sports Club (VSC) in Parañaque is fast becoming the sports and recreation haven for a lot of celebrities, not only for its prime location but also for its top-notch facilities. Adding to its roster of endorsers are members of the Philippines National Football Team (more popularly known as the Philippine Azkals) Chieffy Caligdong, Misagh Bahadoran, and Paolo Pascual.
This comes at the height of football and futsal as an increasingly popular sport all over the country.
Chieffy, Azkals co-captain, made headlines at the 2004 Tiger Cup when he scored the goals that won the Philippines its first victory during the ASEAN Football Championship.
Azkals striker Misagh has played football since he was five years old. With a passion kept aflame by his dedication to the sport, the Filipino-Iranian is one of Azkals’ strongest weapons in its arsenal.
At 5’11,” newcomer Paolo towers above most of the men on the field. The goalkeeper is consistently on top of his game, with his task of defending the team’s goal.
“We are honored to have these sports heroes gracing our courts and as endorsers of our Sports Club,” says Christine Lane, general manager of VSC. “The Azkals are prime examples of the spirit of sportsmanship that we promote for all our members.”
