PascualLab SEED takes root

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Filipino pharmaceutical company Pascual Laboratories (PascualLab) has made a lot of headway in its quest to become a good and responsible corporate citizen. Through its CSR program, the PascualLab SEED initiative, it has implemented multiple projects addressing its three focus areas — health, education, and the environment — which have served to benefit a number of its surrounding communities.

Described by PascualLab as “CSR with Heart,” the SEED initiative is short for Sowing to Empower, Educate, and Develop, and much of its progress can be attributed to successful partnerships and the compassion of its employee volunteers.

One such partnership is one they forged with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines. Collaborating together to educate school children on climate change and its effects on health, they were able to raise the level of awareness across multiple grades in two Quezon City elementary schools through the Kalakasan, Kalikasan Environmental Life Skills Program.

Kalakasan, Kalikasan isn’t just a one-time educational school activity. Partnering with WWF Philippines which, in turn, has partnered with DepEd, PascualLab is the first Filipino pharmaceutical company to introduce a sustainable educational program focused on climate change and its effects on health.

Another solid partner of PascualLab is Habitat for Humanity Philippines. Last year, as part of the company’s 65th anniversary celebration, employee volunteers dedicated one Saturday to do some house-building at the Habitat-Tanza Housing Project in Navotas.

In 2012, PascualLab returned to do more house-building, this time at Habitat’s BistekVille community in Payatas. Going beyond helping build homes, however, PascualLab also adopted the Habitat KarismaVille community in Malabon as the beneficiary of its health advocacy program, Health for Humanity. Part of the program entails a twice-yearly medical mission to the community, and a regular supply of vitamins and medicines for those in it.
