67th Felicidad Sy Wellness Center opens in Olongapo
MANILA, Philippines - The doors of the 67th Felicidad Sy Wellness Center in Brgy. Pag-asa, Olongapo City are now open to beneficiaries after it was blessed and inaugurated recently.
Felicidad Sy Wellness Centers have been established throughout the country in government-run hospitals and public activity centers. According to SM Foundation Health and Medical Programs executive director Connie Angeles, these wellness centers are designed “to provide a therapeutic environment within the hospital or barangay activity center that is both appealing and stimulating to the senses.”
“This endeavor is part of our corporate responsibility. Felicidad Sy Wellness Center is named after the wife of Henry Sy Sr., chairman of SM Foundation, which helps renovate hospice centers, municipal health centers, and wellness centers for children and elderly all over the country,” says Angeles.
The wellness centers are regularly provided with medicines from SM Foundation’s Gamot Para sa Kapwa drive. Medical missions are also conducted in the centers with the mobile clinics making scheduled visits for consultations and diagnostic examinations.
Barangay captain Jimmy Pasag, along with his constituents, were grateful for the renovation made by SM Foundation that included the repainting of walls, mural works in the playpen area and the provision of recreational items like toys, books, TV set, DVD player, slides, and swing in the activity center to rid kids of the fear of face-to-face encounter with their attending physician. Angeles turned over the renovated center to local government officials, led by Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. and municipal health officers.
“This is good news to the residents of Brgy. Pag-asa, especially those who will be availing themselves of the medical services. On behalf of the people of Olongapo, I would like to thank SM Foundation for this wonderful gift to kids,” remarks Mayor Gordon in his message.
