MANILA, Philippines - Some 7.6 million people die of cancer each year, according to a study done by the World Health Organization. With the number of deaths globally attributed to cancer, early cancer detection would be vital in saving lives. The ClearCyte technology to be introduced by PharmaCanada was invented at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Canada and further developed by PMILabs of Vancouver Canada.
“We at PharmaCanada would like to provide Filipinos with reliable yet affordable early cancer detection in a less invasive process,” says Guil Rivera, president of PharmaCanada, Inc. The technology, which is the first of its kind, will be set up in a Cytology Laboratory as part of the Anatomic Department of St Dominic Medical Center.
Dr Rolan dela Rosa, pathologist, is now in Canada enhancing his skills and expertise. Dr dela Rosa is the head of the Anatomic and Clinical Laboratory Department of Jose Abad Santos General Hospital in Binondo, Manila, Nueva Ecija Doctor’s Hospital, and St. Dominic Medical Center in Bacoor, Cavite. He is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), College of Medicine and Surgery, an active member of the Medical Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in UST, and an associate pathologist of the Anatomic and Clinical Laboratory Department of World City Medical Center.
