Futuro launches awareness campaign on injury prevention and care

-

MANILA, Philippines - Sports-related injuries are on the rise. Whether the injury involves a professional or an amateur athlete, a recreational athlete, a dancer or a gym habitué, the number of sports injuries keeps increasing.

Thanks to the modern active lifestyle and a growing obsession with all sorts of physical activity, people are able to shake off a lot of flab and be physically fit. The downside is encountering different kinds of minor and sometimes major sports injuries.

But most people don’t know how to cope with injury or have access to the best ways to mend and heal them.

With this in mind, 3M Philippines has launched an awareness campaign about the causes, prevention, and management of sports-related injuries. The injury awareness thrust provides information about the kinds and causes of common sports injuries, ways to address such injuries, and the various available means to help along the healing process and/or prevent injury recurrence.

“The problem with most people is that they tend to regard minor injuries as something that will disappear with time. The danger is that sometimes, what we perceive as minor may escalate into something more serious if left unattended,” says Thelma Alix, vice president, Consumer and Office Business, 3M Philippines. “All injuries should be consulted with the doctor and given the proper treatment or medication.”

The program which will be launched in schools, gyms, and sports leagues will involve the setting up of first-aid areas in identified sports venues where sports and fitness participants can avail of first-aid advice and products in case of sports-related injuries.

Futuro, the health supports and compression hosiery brand that 3M recently acquired from Beiersdorf, leads the charge towards injury prevention and care awareness. The 3M and Futuro partnership married two venerable brands in the first aid/sports support products market.
