Tooth or consequence: Making tooth brushing fun for kids

-

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a daily challenge for parents to ensure that their children clean their teeth properly and develop effective brushing habits early for a lifetime of good oral health.

Sonicare For Kids® is a power toothbrush designed to provide an enjoyable and hygienic brushing experience for children aged four to 11. The Sonicare for Kids® has an innovative KidTimer function that helps children reach the recommended two-minute brushing time by progressively increasing their brushing time from one minute over 90 days so that they slowly get used to the ideal brushing time. The power toothbrush for kids also has a KidPacer feature that emits fun musical sounds that indicate when it’s time to move to another section of the mouth to help encourage a full-mouth clean for children.

The patented sonic technology in Sonicare achieves its bristle velocity — the movement of the brush head — through a combination of high frequency and high amplitude bristle motions. These motions create dynamic cleaning action that drives fluids deep into the tight spaces between your children’s teeth and along the gum line, which results in a cleaner, healthier mouth.

“Oral healthcare is very important for Filipino parents. From as early as toddler years, parents try to instill the brushing habits in their children to make sure they have healthy teeth and gums,” says Precious Hernandez, consumer and trade marketing manager for Philips Consumer Lifestyle.

The Philips Sonicare For Kids®, has two power modes (low mode for kids aged four years plus and high mode for kids aged seven years plus, which are 60% and 40% less powerful than adult Sonicare power toothbrushes respectively) to give a gentle, yet effective clean.

“As a dental practitioner who specializes in children’s teeth, I noticed how children have cavities because they cannot remove all the plaque from their teeth,” notes Dr. Vivian Gabaldon, pediatric dentist. “With a proper cleaning tool, parents can provide their children with a simple way to start achieving exceptional oral hygiene results as they develop consistent, effective brushing habits in a fun and interactive manner.”

The Sonicare for Kids® toothbrush has a recommended retail price of P8,000 and is available only through selected dental clinics nationwide.
