And now, the country's first fish spa
MANILA, Philippines – Zenyu ecospa, the first and only spa to employ the process of deoxidation or the use of negative ions in the Philippines, recently marked its grand opening. Deoxidation therapy, the use of antioxidants, is known to improve blood circulation, strengthen the immune system, improve metabolism and blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and body toxins, and relieve allergies, colds, and constipation.
Zenyu, which means complete healing in Japanese, does not only offer pampering and relaxation services, but also healing through its antioxidant properties and facilities.
Known to keep harmful bacteria out and expel unwanted wastes from our bodies, negative ions help reduce oxidation in the body, a process that causes cell degradation, which leads to ailments.
Although naturally occurring in the air, pollution, a poor diet, modern lifestyles produce harmful elements known as free radicals that prevent us from benefiting from negative ions. Free radicals are the major causes of degenerative diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer.
Negative ions are normally found near waterfalls, in forests, open-air hot spring baths, in mountains and beaches, and other places where you feel refreshed and rested. These odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules occur in clean and fresh environments that are free of bacteria and viruses.
The negative ion hot bed is part of the Ecoparadise Deoxidation Center that started in Japan and has branched out to Malaysia and Singapore. Ecoparadise uses deoxidizers emitting negative ions to neutralize free radicals that harm us. A special technique allows living microorganisms to change the inherent properties of materials, such as plastic, fiber, liquids, and ceramic, to produce stable deoxidizers. These deoxidizers, which mimic the bounty of nature, continuously discharge negative ions without depletion.
Zenyu ecospa’s negative ion hot bed is made of heated ceramic tiles that were treated with this special technique from Ecoparadise. The spa and Hotel H2O, where it is located, are also painted using negative ion technology.
“The entire spa and hotel emits negative ions so you always feel refreshed and rejuvenated,” says Dr. Eric Tan, spa manager, Zenyu ecospa.
The only one in the Philippines, the hot bed emits large quantities of negative ions that are absorbed by our bodies through our skin and through breathing. At a room temperature of 42-45°C, guests are able to sweat and detoxify while they relax.
The wellness center is beneficial to city folk as well as those recuperating from major and minor illnesses. Some 30 to 40 minutes in the hot bed is good for oxygen absorption in the blood stream, reduced cholesterol levels, stress alleviation, pain management, allergy relief, and improved well-being for those suffering from diabetes and cancer. Two to three times a week is ideal for good health, but once a week will do as well. Negative ions are also associated with an increase in serotonin levels in our brain. Serotonin alters our mood, which can assist treatment of depression.
“The hot bed is able to replicate the natural environment where thousands of negative ions are found. When antioxidants are released, we instantly feel revitalized. Our capillaries open and nutrient transfer improves,” says Takanobu Unno, CEO, Barbarian Co., Ltd., owner of the Ecoparadise trademark.
The spa offers a very healthy antioxidant Hawthorne fruit enzyme drink made using Ecoparadise technology to all guests. Ecoparadise products, such as the Pirikare multipurpose powder, a soya bean-based powder that can be used to clean one’s self, brush teeth with, water and fertilize plants, wash clothes, and even clean canals and waterways, are also available for purchase.
Zenyu ecospa also offers the first fish spa Jacuzzi in the country. This whole body Jacuzzi, usually found in Europe and most beneficial to psoriasis and eczema sufferers, is filled with small doctor fish that feeds on dead skin to reveal clean and exfoliated healthy skin.
“We are more than thrilled to launch the only eco spa in the Philippines that offers complete healing using the true power of nature. Apart from getting massage, hot bed, and doctor fish treatments, guests are able to enjoy the relaxing ambience from the panoramic view of Manila Bay. And since Hotel H2O is the first negative ion hotel in the world, they will feel reinvigorated the moment they step inside,” asserts Dr. Eric Tan.
