In the Nick of time
MANILA, Philippines - Nicksters stepped up to the cool-timate challenge and had the slime of their lives as they ran and romped, boxed, climbed, and twisted in a super active afternoon of knockout fun at Nickelodeon’s recently concluded Nick Knock Out event.
The event’s venue, the Molito Commercial Complex along Madrigal Ave. in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, was transformed into one big play area where kids challenged themselves physically and mentally, Nickelodeon style.
As kids entered the gates, they were given special Nick Knock Out jerseys and welcomed by a medley of music, care of The Magnificent Drum and Lyre of Cuilliat Quezon City.
The fun and games kicked off with a play pledge where all Nicksters promised to “play hard but play fair.” This was the Nick Knock Out battle cry and challengers were reminded that for that day, “challenge” was the name but “fun” was the only rule of the game. And what fun they had!
Nicksters got their adrenalin a-pumpin’ as they tackled tricky obstacles such as the Nick Knock Out Challenge Pyramid which was the centerpiece of the play area and the ultimate physical challenge. Those who successfully conquered the pyramid sounded off the Nick Knock Out victory air horn. For a mind-boggling challenge, kids tried to find their way out of a hexagonal maze with swinging doors. Some lucky ones ran through the maze quickly without trouble while others ended up in trap doors and got blasted with slime. And for speed, there was the Tire Twister II where three challengers ran across a field of colored tires and beat each other in being the first to strike the Going Going Gong. Boxer wannabes went up the inflatable boxing ring to get the “jab” done while basketball fans tested their skills at the shooting station where they had to shoot as many balls possible into the hoop within a given time. There were lots of activities for everyone and tons of freebies to bring home, including unlimited photo souvenirs at the Nick Knock Out photo booth.
But the fun reached fever pitch as Bikini Bottom buddies SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star danced their way to the stage while The Best Day Ever song was played by the Magnificent Drum and Lyre of Cuilliat Quezon City. And just before the day ended, everyone enjoyed a show of jet sparks and a big burst of confetti shower!
