A healthy body and a sound mind

MANILA, Philippines - A safe and meditative exercise that promotes strength, stamina, stability, and flexibility, yoga focuses on balance and breathing. The mind is trained to stillness while executing poses that allow oxygen to pass through the blood stream.   It has been proven that the more oxygen processed by the brain, the calmer one grows.

Find out more at the upcoming Philippine Yoga Asana Championships. Now in its third consecutive year of partnership with Pru Life, UK, Bikram Yoga Manila brings to the spotlight this exceptional discipline in one of its many forms.

Practitioners will showcase different techniques to compete for various categorical titles on November 7, 2 p.m. at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza in Makati. Each competitor will follow the same format and execute a total of seven postures (five compulsory and two optional) in three minutes. The judges are renowned yoga instructors. The winners will represent the country at the World Yoga Competition to be held next year.

Tristan Choa, chairman of the Philippine Yoga Association, and Bikram Yoga Manila Studio director, said, “We have observed that more Filipinos have begun doing yoga so we decided to hold another yoga competition this year. This will surely give yoga a more visible stage that will highlight the virtues of practicing it.”

“The competition promotes yoga, which promotes outer and inner ‘fitness’ or good health. And the promotion of good health is completely aligned with our company’s value of contributing to the development of our fellow Filipinos,” said Pru Life UK marketing vice president Belle Tiongco.

Tickets are available at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium and Bikram Yoga Manila. For inquiries, call 889-0126 or 376-4632.
