MANILA, Philippines - Smart Communications Inc. (Smart), in cooperation with Cheers Corporation, recently conducted a child and baby sitting safety course (CABS) for employees as part of its activities held in observance of Disaster Consciousness Month. The seminar-workshop allowed Smart employees who have children to learn more about child care fundamentals, household safety, and pediatric first aid through the lectures and hands-on demonstrations. Discussions also touched on the importance of proper handwashing, diapering, and proper infant and child feeding. The participants learned basic first aid, including how to respond to choking, burns, strains and sprains, insect bites, and poisoning. They were also taught pediatric administration of cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Smart’s activities to promote disaster consciousness and preparedness among its employees are part of Kabalikat, its corporate social and responsibility program.
