Nick goes to preschool

MANILA, Philippines -  School time becomes fun time as Nickelodeon takes over five preschools this year, bringing fun into learning and entertainment into education.

Nickelodeon, in partnership with Wyeth Progress Pre-School Gold, visits preschools in Metro Manila as it launches Nick Jr.’s Play To Learn school tour, a program dedicated to promoting fun in learning, team spirit, and physical challenge among preschool students aged three to five years old. The school tour, which started this July, will give select preschools two hours of “edu-tainment” until September. During the visit, students become each other’s teammates and even teachers become their playmates.

So, what happens when Nickelodeon goes to a school? Preschoolers should take a cue from Nickelodeon’s Nick Takes Over Your School (NTOYS) annual campaign, a highly successful series of school invasions where the slime mobile visits campuses to spread the Nick cheer among grade school students. Those who have experienced a slime invasion know that school is rockin’ cool when Nick takes over. And this time, with Nick Jr.’s Play To Learn, Nickelodeon gears up to give younger students or preschoolers a chance to rule their schools starting with students from Colegio Sta. Rosa, Southville International School and Makati Hope Christian School from July to August and two more schools in September.    

To kick off the play adventure, the students will be treated to a special screening of Team Umizoomi, Nickelodeon’s newest preschool 2-D and 3-D animated series about mini action heroes who help little kids solve big problems with their mighty math powers. Then, those ready for action can play thrilling games patterned after popular Nick Jr. programs like The Backyardigans, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, Team Umizoomi and Yo Gabba Gabba. Some games will enhance their math skills, some will challenge the sharpness of their memory, but if there is one thing that all the games have in common, it is that they all teach the students about team spirit and fun in play. From counting crazy shapes with their friends from Yo Gabba Gabba to identifying colors of garden flowers with Kai-Lan, kids will surely realize that learning can be exciting. For the students who do not get to play the games, there will be Nickified activity booths and a whole lot of exciting prizes to be won. And of course, what’s a Nick day without a Nicktoon? Kids can expect to say “Ni-Hao” to Kai-Lan or to their favorite “yellow fellow“ SpongeBob SquarePants, before the day of play ends.
