Race and shine
MANILA, Philippines - It was just the perfect day and the perfect setting for an extraordinary race. The first-ever Epic Relay 250 was the ultimate platform to showcase what Pharmaton MVP performance was all about: Being at one’s best in mind and body, to deliver peak performance.
The Epic race was envisioned to be a “running party” that would take groups of 10 friends through the scenic towns and historic landmarks of North Luzon. It would require runners to run nonstop, day and night, relay style, through paved city roads, mountainous trails, dirt paths lined with dense forests, through villages, and across scenic fields punctuated by glimpses of the ocean. The runners had to face not just varying temperatures and natural conditions (heat and humidity being the worst of them) but also the difficulties of the different environments they passed through.
The route started inside the SBMA in Subic Bay and cut through the small communities of Zambales, following the route of the infamous Death March, all the way to the breathtaking Mt. Samat, and back. And that was only the first 20 hours of the race!
In true Pharmaton MVP fashion, at the hand-over stations and pit stops, where teammates and spectators converged, there was nothing but encouragement and good-natured banter, as if this demanding race was a mere walk in the park.
